Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team knew they didn't want a repeat of Friday night's results.
So several players stepped up in a big way to give the Bucs a hard-fought 75-64 win over Illinois College in Flood Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The game was close early before Beloit turned a 16-15 deficit with 10:46 left in the half into a 24-16 lead two minutes later.
The Buccaneers held that lead for the next five minutes before IC put together a 10-0 run to close the half with the lead 32-31.
Unlike Friday night, this time the Bucs came out of the lockerroom strong and took off on a 14-6 run in the first seven minutes to grab a 48-40 lead with 12:56 remaining.
After the Lady Blues cut it back down to four with 7:59 left, Beloit went on a 10-2 run, sparked by MacKenzie Hilliard's eight points, to push the advantage to double figures at 63-51 with just under six minutes left. IC got no closer than eight the rest of the way.
Mary Parker led four Buccaneers in double-figures with 20 points while also grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out seven assists and making six steals. Amanda Moore had 18 with eight boards, Hilliard a career-high 11 and Sarah Stariha ten.
Beloit has a week off before hitting the road for a pair of Midwest Conference games, beginning at Monmouth College next Friday night. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
