Appleton, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team used a game-turning run in the first half and a dominating defense in the second half to run past Lawrence University 65-44 in Appleton on Tuesday night.
The Bucs trailed 18-17 with five minutes remaining in the opening half but turned it around with a 15-3 run to close the half and lead 32-21 at the break.
Beloit opened the second half with a 10-4 run to increase their lead to 42-25 and went up by 20 with 10:30 left at 49-29.
Lawrence went scoreless for four minutes starting at the 10:30 mark while the Buccaneers kept pushing the pace with a 12-0 run. They went up by 30 at 61-29 on a three-pointer from Faith Jones before LU finally scored.
The Bucs closed out the game from there.
Jones led the way with a career-high 20 points while Amanda Moore had a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Mary Parker had eight rebounds and eight assists.
The Buccaneers return to Flood Arena on Friday night to face the Foresters of Lake Forest College in a 5:00 p.m. tip off.
