Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team had high hopes for more than this as they looked to their 2009-10 home opener.
Turnovers and cold shooting did in the Bucs on Tuesday night in Flood Arena as they fell to Loras College 76-50.
The teams played a tight game through the first ten minutes, with Beloit leading by as many as four. But the Duhawks sprinted away from a 13-12 deficit with 14:37 left in the half with a 20-4 run that put them up 33-16 at the 3:10 mark. LC led 38-25 at the break.
Loras pushed their advantage to 20 six minutes into the second half and kept pushing. The largest margin came at 76-46 with 1:09 remaining. Beloit got no closer than 19 after the five-minute mark.
The Buccaneers committed 32 turnovers for the game while shooting 36.2% (17-47).
Amanda Moore was the lone Buc in double figures with 12 while Mary Parker and Diana Sopkowicz each had eight rebounds.
The Bucs have some time before their next action on Friday, December 4, when they open Midwest Conference play at Grinnell College.
