Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team didn't let Friday night's loss in their Midwest Conference opener affect them on Saturday as they charged through to a 3-0 win over Knox College to earn a split of the weekend.
All three sets were close Saturday. Beloit trailed 15-11 midway through the opening set before scoring six straight points on Cheyenne Moffatt's serving to jump on top 16-15. Knox pulled back within 22-21 but the Buccaneers three of the last four points for the win. In the second set Beloit took the lead for good after a 9-9 tie and held on for the 25-22 win. In the final set the Bucs built their lead up to 18-13 at one point before easing in for the 25-18 win and the match.
Taylor Lewis had 12 kills to lead the attack while Molly Schulting had ten. Schulting had a .625 attack percentage while Lewis was at .320. Carolyn Stransky made 37 set assists while Moffatt had a pair of service aces. Julianne Gruenhagen's 13 digs led the way on defense.
The Buccaneers have some recovery time before hitting the road next weekend for two MWC matches in Iowa, playing at Grinnell College on Friday and taking on nationally-ranked Cornell College on Saturday.
