Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team came to life in the third set of their Midwest Conference match with St. Norbert College in Flood Arena on Friday night, but the comeback fell short as they dropped the match 3-0.
Playing their first home match in over three weeks, Beloit fell 25-13, 25-9, 28-26.
In the opening set, the Green Knights broke away from a 4-4 tie early and went on a 14-6 run and to take an 18-10 lead in posting the win. The second set was tied at 1-all before SNC scored the next 12 points and coasted in for the win.
In the third set St. Norbert looked like it was on its way to the easy sweep, leading 11-6, before the Bucs went on a 9-1 run to grab a 15-12 lead. The game stayed close until the Green Knights took a 24-22 lead and appeared ready to end it. But the Buccaneers rallied with three straight points to take a 25-24 lead with the serve for set point. But SNC scored four of the last five points to take the set and the match.
Rachel Skoza had seven kills while Molly Schulting and Leah Kruckman each had six. Carolyn Stransky handed out 28 assists. McKenzie Falker had three service aces and a team-best nine digs.
The Bucs have a few days off before hosting Lake Forest College in Flood Arena next Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
