Ripon, WI – The Beloit College Volleyball team has been picked fourth at the top in the 2011 Midwest Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Conference Office released the results of the poll today.
2010 MWC champion Monmouth College was picked to repeat this season, receiving five first-place votes. St. Norbert College had two first-place votes and were second followed by Lake Forest College, who like Beloit received one first-place vote to narrowly nudge the Buccaneers for the third spot.
Lawrence was slotted fifth followed by Carroll, Ripon, Grinnell, Illinois College and Knox.
The Bucs have finished second in each of the last three seasons but are coming off an MWC Tournament Championship and their second trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The squad finished 19-12 overall last season. They are 23-4 in MWC play over the last three seasons.
Dawn Redd begins her fifth season as head coach when the Buccaneers open their season on Friday and Saturday, September 2-3, at the Elmhurst College Invite. They make their home debut on Saturday, September 9, as part of the Buc Blast Tournament. Conference action begins on Tuesday, September 20, when they host Grinnell College in Flood Arena.
