Buccaneers Post Five Firsts in Final Tune-Up for MWC's

Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team had their final tune-up for next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships on Saturday at the Carroll University May Invite, with the Women finishing second in the team standings and the Men third.

Five athletes brought home first-place finishes to lead the way - Felicia Carlson in the 100m, Ellie Waddle in the 400m, Emma Koenig in the 1500m, Matt Kreiser in the 400m Hurdles and Crit Stanley in the Pole Vault.

Also earning points for the Women were CJ Cochran, third in the 400m and Camilla Jackson, third in the 400m Hurdles; Angie Earley, fourth in the 100m, Sara DeLong, fourth in the 800m, Emily Sneed, fourth in the 1500m, and Sian Cunningham, fourth in the Pole Vault; Kelsi Brooks, fifth in the 800m; Jourdan Plautz, sixth in the 100m and Long Jump; and Ariel Yang, eighth in the 100m, and Earley, eighth in the 200m.

The Women's 4x400m Relay of Rasheda Hughes, Cochran, Earley and Carlson was second while the 4x100m Relay of Hughes, Plautz, Earley and Carlson was third.

Earning points for the Men were Peter Siess, second in the 400m, Jacob Gray, second in the 800m, and Mateo Lauersdorf, second in the Shot; George Gray, third in the High Jump and Lauersdorf, third in the Javelin; Alberto Torres, fourth in the 3000m Steeplechase, and Lauersdorf, fourth in both the Discus and Hammer; Siess, sixth in the 200m; and Josh Smith, seventh in the 1500m.

The Men's 4x400m Relay of Lukeson Versulien, George Gray, Siess and Kreiser was second while the 4x100m Relay of the same foursome was fourth.

Beloit now has its eyes set on next weekend at Grinnell College and the MWC Outdoor Championships.  Action begins Friday at 12:30 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
