Buccaneers Open Outdoor Season at Knox

Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Track & Field team opened the outdoor portion of their 2014 season on Saturday, competing at the Knox College Outdoor Open.  The Women's team finished third while the Men were fourth.

Felicia Carlson won both the 100m and 200m to lead the Women while Josh Litofsky won the 3000m Steeplechase and Matt Kreiser crossed the line first in the 400m Hurdles to pace the Men.

Also earning points for the Buccaneer Women were CJ Cochran, second in the 400m; Ellie Waddle, second in the 800m; Camilla Jackson, fourth in the 400m Hurdles; Sian Cunningham, fourth in the Pole Vault; Cherrelle Phon, fifth in the Pole Vault; Emma Koenig, sixth in the 1500m; Sara DeLong, seventh in the 1500m; and Jourdan Plautz, eighth in the 100m.

The Women's 4x100m Relay of Cochran, Katia Nonet, Rasheda Hughes and Plautz were third and the 4x400m Relay of Cochran, Carlson, Jackson and Hughes were fifth.

Earning points for the Men were Peter Siess, second in the 400m and fourth in the 200m; George Gray, fourth in the 800m; Mateo Lauersdorf, fourth in both the Shot Put and Javelin and fifth in the Hammer; and Jacob Gray, sixth in the 1500m.

The Men's 4x400m Relay of DeWight Walker, Siess, Kreiser and Lukeson Versulien were second and the 4x100m Relay of Bellande Bertrand, Versulien, Siess and Walker were third.

The Bucs head to the Windy City next Saturday for the University of Chicago Invite.  Action begins at 11:00 a.m.
