Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team competed at the Carroll University Invite on Saturday, with the Women's squad taking third in the team standings and the Men fifth.
Felicia Carlson and Matt Floyd both set school records at the meet, with Carlson setting a new standard in the 100m and Floyd topping the old mark in the Pole Vault. Carlson's :12.67 second-place finish in the 100m broke Gabi Cepeda's 2007 record on :12.81. Floyd's winning 14'8 effort in the Pole Vault broke the mark of 14'6 set by Gary Arbizzani in 1991 and equalled by Gavin King in 1995.
Also earning points for the Women were Nadia Hecker-O'Brien, third in the 400m; Devin Mandell, third in the 800m; Camilla Jackson, fourth in the 1500m; Jessica Vogel, sixth in the 1500m; Karen Jones, third in the 5000m; Anna Wenzel, fifth in the 5000m; Karly Clippinger, seventh in the 100m Hurdles; and Erika Moen, second in the Discus and third in the Hammer.
The 4x100m Relay team of Carlson, Rachel Monroe, Angie Early and Sudan Garner was second while the 4x400m quartet of Hecker-O'Brien, Jackson, Carlson and Catherine Cochran were third.
For the Men, Joseph Skurski joined Floyd in the winner's circle with a victory in the 10000m. Also earning points were Mat Kahl, fourth in the 100m; Peter Siess, seventh in the 400m; Turner Smith, fourth in the 10000m; Matthew Kreiser, third in the 400m Hurdles; Chris Stanley, sixth in the Pole Vault; Mateo Lauersdorf, second in the Javelin; and Myles Schneider, fourth in both the Shot Put and Hammer.
The 4x100m Relay of Kahl, Kreiser, Tyler Coleman and Siess was second while the 4x400m Relay of George Gray, Siess, Kreiser and Will McShane was fifth.
Beloit is back in action next Saturday at the Benedictine University Eagle Invite in Lisle, Illinois. Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
