
Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Track & Field team had plenty of place winners at the Knox College Open on Saturday, including four top finishes in the non-team scoring meet.
Kenny Williams recorded firsts in the 400m and High Jump and Matej Jungwirth led a Beloit sweep in the 3000m Steeplechase for the Men while Sara DeLong also won the Steeplechase to lead the Women.
Second-place finishes for the Women were turned in by Margaret Cress in the 3000m Steeplechase; Elizabeth Peckham in the Pole Vault; Rachel Monroe in the Triple Jump; and Erika Moen in the Discus. Thirds went to Anna Wenzel in the 5000m; Amani Edwards in the Shot Put; and Karly Clippinger in the High Jump. Fourths were earned by Laurel Marshall in the 800m; Camilla Jackson in the 400m Hurdles; Cherrell Phon in the Triple Jump; Nadia Hecker-O'Brien in the High Jump; and Edwards in the Hammer.
The Men's second-place finish was brought home by Quinn Crawford in the 3000m Steeplechase. Thirds were earned by Aaron Joiner in the 800m; Joseph Skurski in the Steeplechase; Myles Schneider in the Hammer; and Travis Towns in the Javelin. Josh Smith earned a fourth in the 5000m.
The Buccaneers are off next Saturday before returning to action at the Benedictine University Eagle Invite on April 14 in Lisle, Illinois. Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
