Bucs Open Outdoor Season in South Carolina

Travis TownsMyrtle Beach, SC -- The Beloit College Track & Field team opened their 2012 Outdoor season on Friday at the Coastal Carolina University Invitational.

The large meet, co-hosted by Coastal Carolina University and the City of Myrtle Beach, is being held at Doug Shaw Stadium.  47 schools from across the nation, and featuring primarily NCAA Division I and II schools, are represented at the Meet, which concludes on Saturday.

Travis Towns had the top showing for the Buccaneers, reaching the finals and finishing eighth in the Javelin. 

The Women's 4x800 Relay squad of Margaret Cress, Camilla Jackson, Anna Wenzel and Karen Jones finished sixth to pace the Women.

Elizabeth Peckham finished ninth in the Pole Vault while the Women's 4x200 Relay team of Rachel Monroe, Namoonga Mantina, Brooke Kahl and Rasheda Hughes was also ninth.

Complete results from Coastal Carolina will be posted on the website when they are received on Sunday.

The teams are scheduled to open the Northern portion of their schedule next Saturday, March 17, at the Augustana College Invite in Rock Island, Illinois.
