Chicago, IL -- The Beloit College Indoor Track & Field team competed at the University of Chicago Duals on Saturday, with the Men finishing 5-3 and the Women 3-6.
The Men's squad defeated Chicago State, Elmhurst, Illinois Tech, North Park and St. Francis while falling to St. Ambrose, host Chicago and Illinois-Chicago.
The Women beat Illinois Tech, North Park and St. Franis and lost to Chicago State, Elmhurst, St. Ambrose, host Chicago, Illinois-Chicago and Wheaton.
Derek Carrier led the Men with three top-eight finishes, coming in third in both the Long and Triple Jump and seventh in the 55m.
Amani Edwards was fifth in the Weight Throw and seventh in the Shot Put to pace the Women.
Also scoring points for the Men were Matt Pitz, fifth in the Mile; Jason Busack, seventh in the 5000m; and Matt Floyd, third in the Pole Vault. The Distance Medley Relay of Malcolm Yates, Daniel Gonzales, Turner Smith and Ethan Ley was fifth and the 4x400m Relay of Aaron Joiner, Yates, John Wildauer and Kenny Williams was sixth.
Earning points for the Women was Rasheda Hughes, eighth in the 400m, as well as the 4x400m Relay team of Kiera Hayes, Camilla Jackson, Alex Hinck and Geneva Schulz-Welo was seventh.
The squads are back in action next Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University for the Keck Ecumenical in Bloomington, Illinois. Action begins at 11:00 a.m.
