Towns Wins Javelin; Women 5th, Men 6th at Private Schools Meet

Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team competed at the annual Wisconsin Private Schools Meet, this year held at Carroll University, with the Women's squad finishing fifth and the Men sixth.

Travis Towns led the Men's squad with a victory in the Javelin. Jared Wynne finished second in the 5000m while Josh Davendonis was third in the 800m and Aaron Joiner third in the 400m.

Erika Moen finished second in the Discus, Tanishka Armbrister second in the 400m, and Amani Edwards second in the Weight Throw to lead the Women. Katie Schurr was third in the 100m, Anna Blankschien third in the 400m Hurdles and Edwards was third in both the Discus and Shot Put.

Armbrister set a school record in the 200m, finishing fourth in :26.33. The time surpassed the 2004 record set by Shanishka Bain (:26.44).

The Buccaneers have their final tune-up before the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday when they compete in the Wisconsin Twilight Meet in Madison. Action begins at 10:00 a.m.
