Buccaneer Swimming & Diving Closes Home Season with Double-Dual

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Swimming & Diving team closed the 2011-12 home and regular season with a double-dual in Kresge Natatorium for Senior Day Saturday.  The Men's squad defeated Knox College but lost to Carroll University while the Women fell to both teams.

The Buccaneers recognized seven seniors competing in their final home meet - Julianne Angeli, Emily Law, Megan Mason, Beth Remington, Gabe Saslow, Tyler Senz and Ike Watson.

The Men defeated Knox 59-48 while falling to Carroll 57-50.  The Women were topped by Knox 77-44 and Carroll 70-47.

Grabbing first-place finishes were Will McAneny in both the 50 and 100 Free, Paden Dubois in the 100 Breast, Griselle Quinones in the 200 Fly, Nora Holte in the 100 Free, Greg Schalla in the 200 Back and Arthur Staub in the 500 Free.

Taking seconds were Holte in the 50 and 200 Free, Dubois in the 200 Free and 200 Breast, Schalla in the 50 Free and 400 IM, Angeli in the 100 Fly, Law in the 200 Fly, and Matt Sherrell in the 500 Free.

The Men's 400 Medley Relay team of Schalla, Dubois, McAneny and Staub also took second.

The Bucs now prepare for the Midwest Conference Championships, which will be held at Lawrence University in Appleton, on February 17-19.
