Grinnell, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Swimming & Diving team moved up to fifth place while the Men's squad held in the #6 spot as the Midwest Conference Swimming & Diving Championships concluded at Grinnell College on Sunday.
The Women moved up a spot from last season's finish while the Men duplicated their 2010 finish.
Seven school records fell for the Bucs during the three-day meet, including the Men's 800 Free Relay taking down the oldest record on the Beloit books. The Women's 800 Free Relay also set a new record. Individual records were claimed by Kate Wolf in the 200 IM and 400 IM; Patrick Duvall in the 100 Fly; Connie Meltzer in the 100 Back; and Greg Schalla in the 1000 Free.
Sunday, Duvall recorded the teams' top finish with a third in the 200 Fly. Schalla was sixth in the 1650 Free, breaking the 1000 Free school record in the process. The old record was set in 2006 by Rob Sjoberg;
Wolf finished ninth in the 200 Breast; Beth Remington tenth in the 200 Breast; and Meltzer ninth in the 200 Fly.
The Women's 400 Free Relay team of Nora Holte, Aria Walsh-Felz, Remington and Wolf finished sixth while the Men's 400 Free Relay of Arthur Staub, Christopher Koch, Schalla and Duvall finished seventh.
