Kissimmee, FL -- The Beloit College Softball team played two different games on Monday at the Rebel Spring Games. And not just the opponents were different in a pair of losses, 9-0 to Thomas More College and 11-0 against Concordia University-Chicago.
In the second game against Concordia, errors played a big part in the Cougars getting a jump start. CUC scored three in the top of the first, one in the second and two in the third with only half of the runs earned as the Bucs committed five errors in those first three innings.
Concordia added two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Beloit was hitting the ball, with only three strikeouts in the game, but couldn't string together anything. Kandace Fox, Tara Grode and Emily Dorjath got the Buccaneer hits, all singles.
In the opener, Thomas More College seemingly found a hole with every swing of the bat. Of their 14 hits in the game, 13 were singles, many bunched together. TMC took control in the bottom of the first with eight runs, getting nine singles and a double. They added a run on three singles in the second to finish their scoring.
The Bucs struggled at the plate with just two hits, one by Dorjath and one by Tala Cornell.
Beloit looks to change their fortune on Tuesday afternoon when they face a pair of ranked opponents, taking on #5 Roanoke College at 3:00 p.m. EST followed by #13 Trine University.
