Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team ended an eight-game losing streak Saturday with a 7-4 win over Rockford College at the Strong Complex Field, the last game of the Beloit Triangular.  The Bucs fell 3-0 to Loras College in the first game.

Megan Salm gave up one earned run in four innings for the win and Katy Sandt closed out the last three innings for the save, striking out three.

Playing as the visiting team, the Buccaneers jumped on top with three runs in the second.  McKenzie Falker singled in Kourtney Kingslien, who had doubled, Salm tripled in Falker and Sandt executed a delayed squeeze play to score Salm.

The Bucs added two runs in the top of the fourth when Tara Grode drove in Salm, who singled, and Sandt scored on a two-out error to make it 5-0.  But Rockford wasn't done, pulling to within a run in the bottom of the fourth with four tallies, three of them unearned on an error with two outs.

After leaving runners on base in the fifth and sixth Beloit got some insurance in the seventh when Emily Dorjath singled in Praises Vega and then closed out the scoring when she scored on an error.

In the opening game, both the Bucs and Duhawks had chances in the first two innings but couldn't get a run in.  Loras took the lead with a two-out hit in the third and then added two runs in the sixth.  The Buccaneers left four runners stranded at second base in the game and went down in order in the sixth and seventh.

Beloit had three hits - one each from Grode, Vega and Sandt.

The Bucs have a little time off before getting back on the field Thursday at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.  Action begins at 3:00 p.m. for the doubleheader.
