Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team dropped a pair of close Midwest Conference games to Carroll University on Saturday afternoon at the Strong Complex Softball Field in the final home games of the season, falling 4-1 and 2-1.
The team also recognized their lone senior, Tess Jacquez, in her final home games
In game one, the Bucs broke up a scoreless game in the fourth when Jacquez drove in McKenzie Falker with a double. Falker had reached on a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and third on a sac.
The lead held up until the Pioneers scored three times in the sixth on a double and a two-run home run. They tacked on a run in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Kourtney Kingslien paced Beloit with two hits.
In the second game Carroll scored in the second inning and added some insurance in the third with an unearned run. The Buccaneers got their run in the fifth when Kandace Fox knocked in Sarah Stariha, who had singled earlier.
Beloit got a runner in scoring position in the sixth in a bid to tie it but couldn't get the key hit. They went down in order in the seventh to end it.
Stariha had two hits in the game to lead the Bucs.
The squad has a week off before closing out their MWC schedule at St. Norbert College next Saturday with two games. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m.
