Wheaton, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader at Wheaton College on Monday, falling 6-1 and 9-1.
The game had originally been schedule for March 24 but was postponed due to the very cold weather on that date.
In game one the Thunder scored two runs in the first and fifth innings and solo runs in the second and sixth to build a 6-0 lead. The Bucs got on the board in the top of the seventh when Kandace Fox's ground ball was mishandled for an error, scoring Sarah Stariha who had walked to break up the Wheaton pitcher's perfect game.
In game two Beloit got their run in the top of the first, with Stariha scoring on Tess Jacquez's bases-loaded walk. Stariha had singled to lead off the game.
McKenzie Falker had the only other hit for the Buccaneers, a single in the fifth.
Beloit continues its busy week on Thursday at the Strong Complex Softball Field with a doubleheader against UW-Platteville. Game time is at 3:00 p.m. It will be Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, with free hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks available at 4:30 p.m.
