Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team had a split with North Central College within their reach at the Strong Complex Softball Field on Thursday before a late rally pulled it away.  The Cardinals headed home with 9-0 and 5-2 wins.

In game two the Bucs brought their power to the plate.  Sarah Stariha scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third with a solo home run, her first of the season.  NCC tied it up in the fifth but once again Beloit's big bats came to life.

Praises Vega regained the lead with her first career home run in the bottom of the fifth and the Bucs loaded the bases but couldn't push across any insurance.

North Central tied it up with one out in the top of the seventh and then, after putting runners on first and second, got a three-run homer for the deciding runs.  Beloit got two on in the bottom of the inning with two out but couldn't get one more big fly.

Tara Grode had two hits in the game.  Tess Jacquez suffered the hard-luck loss, giving up just two hits before the tough seventh.

Beloit got no-hit in game one, with only McKenzie Falker advancing as far as second base, that coming in the fifth after a walk and fielder's choice.

The Cardinals scored seven runs in the third inning, four of them unearned, and added two in the fifth for the win.

The Buccaneers open Midwest Conference play on Saturday at the Strong Field for Friends & Family Day.  First pitch against Lawrence University is at 1:00 p.m.
