Kissimmee, FL -- The Beloit College Softball team fought through a long last day on the Spring Trip, falling three times to finish up 2-7 at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Bucs lost to Albion 2-0, Simpson 15-0 and Bluffton 8-0 on Friday.
Against Albion the Buccaneers just couldn't get anything going offensively, finishing with four hits. Albion scored both of their runs in the second inning and made them stand up. The Beloit hits came from Tess Jacquez, McKenzie Falker, Sarah Stariha and Kandace Fox. Falker and Stariha got their hits in the third inning, when they advanced to second and third, respectively, but were stranded.
Against a powerful Simpson squad, the Storm scored eight times in the first inning and never looked back. They added three more in the second and two each in the fourth and fifth. Stariha and Jacquez got the Buccaneer hits, Stariha leading off the bottom of the first and Jacquez leading off the fifth.
In the finale of the tripleheader against Bluffton, a game that was added on because of Thursday's complete rain-out, BU got single runs in the first and second and then broke it open with four in the fourth before adding a final two in the fifth. The Bucs were held hitless. The lone baserunners for Beloit were walks by Stariha, Laura Byrne and Falker.
The Buccaneers are now off until their Northern opener on March 24 at Wheaton College. The home opener is scheduled for March 31 against North Central College at the Strong Complex Softball Field.
