Kissimmee, FL -- The Beloit College Softball team dropped a pair of games on their third day of the Rebel Spring Games Wednesday, falling to Thomas More College of Kentucky 4-0 and 12-4 to Aurora University.
The Bucs, who had an off day on Tuesday after splitting their first four games, couldn't get the bats going against Thomas More in the first game. The Saints got three unearned runs out of the four from Beloit, scoring once in the third and fourth and twice in the seventh to seal it.
Sarah Stariha led off the bottom of the first with a single and Tess Jacquez led off the fifth with a single for the lone Buccaneer hits. Katy Sandt gave up just three hits while striking out five. But three errors was the team's undoing.
Against Aurora, Beloit jumped on top with two runs in the first, both coming on a two-run single by Praises Vega. But Aurora scored six in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.
AU added two in the third and another in the fourth to push their lead to 9-2. The Bucs cut into the lead in the fifth with a two-run single by Tara Grode before the Spartans invoked the eight-run rule with three runs in the sixth.
Vega led Beloit with two hits.
The Buccaneers look to rebound on Thursday with two more games, taking on Mitchell College of Connecticut and Mount Union College of Ohio in the afternoon.
