The Beloit College Softball team will be hosting four clinics during the months of January and February. All clinics are geared toward fastpitch softball players in the third through 12th grades and will be held at the Beloit College Sports Center and Fieldhouse on campus.
The Pitching Series, which will be limited to 15 pitchers per session, is scheduled for 1:00-2:30 for beginning pitchers and 2:30-4:00 for advanced pitchers on January 16, 23 and 30. The series will focus on the fundamentals of windmill pitching building on spin, spot and speed and the development of a variety of pitches (change-up, drop, screw, rise). The cost for the pitching series is $60.
The Catching Clinic, which will be limited to 15 catchers per session, is scheduled for 12:30-2:00 and 2:00-3:30 on Jan. 23. The clinic will focus on all of the fundamental skills of the catching position. Cost for the clinic is $20 for one session and $35 for both sessions.
The Hitting clinic will feature two sessions and will be limited to 30 hitters per session. Session 1 is scheduled for 12:30-2:00 p.m. on February 6th (basic fundamentals, techniques of bunting, T-drills and soft toss drills) and Session 2 is from 2:00-3:30 on February 6th (advanced soft toss drills and machine drills, techniques of slapping). The cost for the hitting series is $20 for one session and $35 for two sessions.
The Softball Skills Clinic will be on Feb 20th from 2:00-5:30. This clinic will focus on baserunning, fielding, throwing and defensive strategy for both infield and outfield. A pizza dinner with the Buccaneer team is included at the end of this clinic. The cost for this clinic is $40.00. Participants receive a clinic t-shirt with registration fees.
