Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team wrapped up the Midwest Conference portion of their schedule on Thursday with a pair of losses to Ripon College at the Strong Complex Softball Field, falling 5-2 and 3-0.

In the opener the Buccaneers struck first with two runs in the third, both off the bat of Laura Byrne, who doubled to right center to plate Nicole Oddo and Sarah Stariha.

But Ripon took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth. They added two more in the fifth to finish out the scoring. Beloit had a runner in scoring position in both the fifth and the seventh but couldn't get them in.

Byrne had two hits in the game, including her double.

In game two RC got the only run they needed in the second inning. They added an unearned run in the third and closed out the scoring with a single run in the sixth.

The Buccaneers couldn't string hits together but loaded the bases in the fifth but couldn't get a run across.

Beloit finished the game with four hits. Sarah Stariha walked twice after drawing three walks in game one.

The Bucs' lone senior, Oddo, was honored between games of the doubleheader.

Beloit closes out its 2010 season on Sunday when they host the University of Chicago for two games. Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
