Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team earned a split of two weekend matches with a big 16-3 win over the University of Dallas at Strong Stadium on Sunday. The Buccaneers dropped an 18-4 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game at Carthage College on Saturday.
On Sunday the teams traded goals thru the first 10 minutes, with Libby Storrick and Sara Fithian (free position) scoring for the Bucs. But Michelle Dillon's short-handed goal, assisted by Celeste Jenkins, sent the Buccaneers off on what would become a nine-goal run into the second half that all-but decided the outcome. Dillon and Fithian had three goals each in the run while Storrick had two and Marie Bonine added one before the Crusaders broke the run at the 13:56 mark of the second half.
After Dallas scored its third goal Beloit closed the game with five straight scores for the final score. Storrick and Fithian each had two in that run while Dillon got the other.
Fithian finished with six goals, two from the free position and one on the powerplay, and two assists while Storrick had five goals, including a free position, and an assist. Dillon finished with four goals and an assist. Bonine and Jenkins shared the win in net with seven saves between them.
Back on Saturday, Fithian and Storrick each scored twice to account for the Buccaneer scoring against Carthage. Jenkins made nine saves in net.
Beloit is back at home on Wednesday night when they host Illinois Institute of Technology in a 6:00 p.m. game at the Stadium.
