Decatur, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team actually traveled South for their first Northern game of the season but it wasn't a happy trip, with the Bucs fell twice to Loras College on Saturday 9-1 and 15-3.
In game one Emelie Thern put Beloit on top in the top of the first with an RBI single, scoring Praises Vega, but that lead only held to the third. The DuHawks scored three in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to end things early.
Thern's hit was the lone one for the Buccaneers.
In game two LC got going right away and never stopped, scoring two in the top of the first, three in the second, five in the third, one in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Beloit got on the board in the bottom of the second, making it a 5-2 game on Megan Salm's two-run home run to center, her first of the season, scoring Tala Cornell, who had singled. In the fifth Salm plated the third and final run for the Bucs with a fielder's choice RBI, driving in Cornell.
Cornell finished the game 3-3 with the two runs scored.
The Buccaneers have some time to get ready for their next challenge with a week before they head back to Decatur to play two against UW-Stevens Point as part of the Millikin University Big Blue Tournament next Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
