Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team stayed close but could never get over the hump as they saw their four-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Carroll University on Wednesday night in Flood Arena 75-61.
The first 12 minutes of the opening half was close throughout until the Pioneers went on a four-minute 5-0 run to stretch their lead to seven, which was their lead margin at halftime, 29-22.
The deficit grew to 10 thirty seconds into the second half but a 14-6 run by the Buccaneers cut it to a 38-36 Carroll lead at 14:36. CU answered that Beloit run with an 8-0 run to re-establish their 10-point lead and the Bucs couldn't get closer than eight the rest of the way.
Beloit shot just 38.2% from the field for the game, including 3-17 from three-point, while Carroll hit at a 59.6% clip. 22 Buccaneer turnovers also hurt.
Jenna Larsen and Nora Polaski led the Bucs with 14 points each while Lauren McNanna added 13. Larsen also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds while Polaski and McNanna each had six. McNanna also had three assists, as did Larsen and Alyssa Capecci, and three steals.
The Buccaneers finish up their 2013-14 season on Saturday when they host Cornell College for Senior Day. Game time is at 5:00 p.m. with the team's three seniors being recognized following the game.
