Decorah, IA -- The Beloit College Volleyball team took on the biggest challenges of their 2013 season to date over the weekend, competing at the ACM Tournament. The Bucs finished 0-4 in the first annual event.
Beloit fell to fellow-Midwest Conference member Cornell College, the defending MWC Champion and a team receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, 3-0 to open play before dropping a 3-0 decision to Macalester College later on Saturday.
On Sunday, #14 Colorado College defeated the Bucs 3-1 before host Luther College closed the Tourney with a 3-0 win.
Taylor Lewis led the squad with 14 kills on the weekend while Bethany Stavrakas had 13 and both Leah Kruckman and Molly Schulting 12. Carolyn Stransky had 50 assists and a team-best three aces. Julianne Gruenhagen had 56 digs and Stavrakas 33. Kruckman finished with ten total blocks and Schulting nine.
Gruenhagen earned a spot on the 12-person All-Tournament team.
The Buccaneers return to Flood Arena on Tuesday night to host Aurora University. Action begins at 7:00 p.m.
