Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Tennis team took to the road on Saturday and came home with a pair of wins, topping host Knox College 6-3 before defeating Ripon College 9-0.
Against Knox the Bucs took two of the three Doubles matches for a 2-1 lead heading into Singles play. Courtney Yates nailed down the win for Beloit with their fifth point, winning 6-2, 6-2 at #2 Singles. Also winning in Singles were Alex Hinck at #3 6-0, 6-0, Maria Mears at #4 6-3, 6-1 and Paola Schnabel at #5 6-2, 6-1. Trina Capelli and Yates won 8-4 at #1 Doubles while Hinck and Mears won 8-0 at #2.
In the Midwest Conference North Division opener against Ripon the Buccaneers wasted little time in Doubles, winning 8-3 (#1) and 8-1 (both #2 and #3) to jump up 3-0. Mears secured the conference win, making it 5-0 at #4 Singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
The Bucs have three home matches in the coming week, hosting Lake Forest College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., Mt. Mary College at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and Milwaukee School of Engineering at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
