Buccaneer VB Splits Triangular

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday in Flood Arena, topping Mount Mary College 3-0 before dropping a 3-0 decision to Alverno College in the final match of the day.

In the sweep against Mt. Mary Bethany Stavrakas led the attack with nine kills while Taylor Lewis had eight and Leah Kruckman seven in the 25-10, 25-14, 25-18 win.  Carolyn Stransky had 33 assists.  Julianne Gruenhagen served five aces while Stavrakas had three.  Gruenhagen also had a match-high 17 digs.

Against Alverno Beloit just couldn't get anything going in falling 25-13, 25-13, 25-18.  Kruckman and Molly Schulting each had six kills to lead the attack while Stransky had 15 assists.  Stransky also had a pair of service aces and Gruenhagen made 16 digs.  Kruckman had two block assists.

The Buccaneers have the week off before getting back on the court next weekend at the ACM Tournament in Decorah, Iowa.  Beloit plays Coe College and Macalester College on Saturday before taking on nationally-ranked Colorado College and host Luther College on Sunday.
