Aurora, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team had their two-game winning streak snapped at Aurora University on Tuesday with a 7-4 loss in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference match-up.
The Spartans jumped on top early with a goal less than two minutes in. But Sara Fithian tied it up six minutes later. Aurora then took charge of the game with three unanswered goals to move up 4-1. Fithian cut the deficit in half 49 seconds before the half with her second goal to make it 4-2 at the break.
AU rebuilt their three-goal lead 28 seconds into the second half but the Bucs got back-to-back goals by Fithian, assisted by Caitlin Paterson, at 23:01 and Sarah Pipal, assisted by Ellie Daniels, at 20:23 to make it a 5-4 game. But that was as close as they'd get as Aurora iced the game with goals at 18:50 and 3:24.
The Buccaneers come back home on Saturday when they host Augustana College in an MWLC game. Action begins at 12:00 noon at Strong Stadium.
