Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team has run up against three nationally-ranked teams this season. The third was Saturday in Flood Arena where they took an 89-59 loss to #21 Cornell College.
The undefeated Rams scored the first nine points of the game in the first two minutes of the contest before the Bucs scored five straight to pull back within 9-5 five minutes in. CC scored seven straight to move up by 11 but Beloit again scored five straight to pull with six at the 11:26 mark. The Buccaneers were down 27-18 6:54 before the half before Cornell closed the first 20 minutes on a 21-6 run and take a 48-24 lead into the lockerroom.
The Bucs scored the first seven points of the second half to make it 48-31 at 18:32 but from then on it was all Cornell. Beloit got no closer than 18 the rest of the way. The largest margin was the final score.
Lauren McNanna led the way with 13 points, including 8-8 from the free throw line to run her streak to 25 straight charity tosses. She added five assists. Lana Wieseman had 11 points and Kandace Fox ten with four assists. Jenna Larsen had a team-high six rebounds.
The Buccaneers host St. Norbert College in Flood Arena on Tuesday night. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
