
Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball kept pushing against Illinois College on Saturday in Flood Arena and the result was a losing-streak snapping 77-67 win in their first home game of 2013.
The game was close through the first five minutes, with the Bucs holding a slim 11-10 advantage at the 15:10 mark, before the Lady Blues put together a 10-2 run to jump up 20-13 at 11:40. IC had their largest lead at 26-17 with 7:30 left but a 16-0 run by Beloit pushed them in from 33-26 with just over three minutes left. Illinois College closed on the half with an 8-3 run to shrink the Buccaneers' lead to 36-34 at the break.
Beloit got their lead up to nine at 43-34 two minutes into the second half but the Lady Blues went on an 11-2 run over the next five-plus minutes to tie it up at 45-all at the 12:49 mark. The game stayed close for the next eight minutes until the Buccaneers broke away from a 60-60 tie at 4:35 with a game-closing 17-7 run to win going away.
The Bucs shot 43.6% from the field and held a 26-13 advantage at the free throw line for the game. Lauren McNanna was 14-14 from the charity stripe, including 6-6 in the deciding run at the end of the game.
Kandace Fox had 24 points to lead Beloit while McNanna finished with 22 and Lana Wieseman 16. Jenna Larsen had a game-high 12 rebounds and dished out five assists.
The Buccaneers have a few days before going on the road to play at Carroll University on Wednesday night. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
