Beloit, WI -- The Beloit Women's Basketball team put up the best effort they could muster, with only eight players dressed, battling to the end but coming up short in a 71-66 loss to Loras College in Flood Arena on Wednesday.  The game was the final one before Break for the Bucs.

Neither team could shake loose of the other in the first 17-plus minutes of the opening half until the DuHawks broke away from a 31-all tie with 5:28 left with a 7-1 run that put them up 38-32 at the 2:29 mark.  But Beloit closed the gap with a 5-2 run to close out the half, giving LC a 40-37 lead at the break.

The score remained tight through most of the second half when Loras, leading 55-53 with 7:41 remaining, went on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to take control at 68-55 with 3:33 left.  The Buccaneers refused to quit and outscored LC 11-3 down the stretch for the final score.

Rebounding was a key stat in the game, with Loras winning that battle 47-23, including 19 offensive rebounds to the Bucs one.

Lauren McNanna had a game-high 22 points while Lana Wieseman added 12 with a team-high six rebounds.  Taylor Grace Silar had a career-high 11 points, including three three-pointers.

Beloit now takes some time for the Holidays before getting back on the court on Saturday, December 29, at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois.  Tipoff is at 12:00 noon.
