Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team can head into Finals with a good feeling after extending their Midwest Conference winning streak to four games with a 68-52 win over Lake Forest College in Flood Arena on Tuesday night.
The Buccaneers jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first eight-plus minutes of the game and never looked back. The Foresters chipped away and got the deficit down to eight at the break with a 5-0 run in the final 2:08. Beloit led at the half 29-21.
LFC kept chipping away and got as close as 40-34 at the 13:55 mark of the second half. But a quick 6-0 run by the Bucs got their lead back to 12 two minutes later and Lake Forest never got closer than nine the rest of the way. Beloit's largest lead was 16, which they hit at 64-48 with 3:26 remaining.
Steve McAfee and Tyler Butke led four Buccaneers in double figures with 15. McAfee added 11 rebounds for a double-double. James Lazarcik had 14 points and nine rebounds while Chris Bremner scored 12, on four three-pointers, and handed out five assists.
The Buccaneers have some time off for Finals before getting back on the court one more time before the Holidays, playing at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday, December 20. Tipoff in Milwaukee is at 7:00 p.m.
