De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team pushed 25th-ranked St. Norbert College in the opening half before the Green Knights took charge in the second half in a 71-44 loss on Wednesday night.
Beloit led 8-7 two minutes into the game before SNC went on a 9-0 run to go up 16-8 five minutes later. But the Buccaneers responded with a 14-3 run in the next six-plus minutes to lead 22-19 with just under seven minutes left in the half. They grabbed their biggest lead at 30-25 with 2:27 left but the Green Knights closed the half on a 10-0 run to lead 35-30 at the break.
St. Norbert extended the run to 19-0 before Lauren McNanna hit a three-pointer at the 13:36 mark to pull Beloit within 44-33. The Bucs were within 12 at 53-41 with 7:26 left before going on a six-minute scoring drought. The Green Knights kept extending the lead until Kandace Fox stopped the dry spell with a jumper at the 1:34 mark. SNC out-scored Beloit 36-14 in the second 20 minutes.
McNanna led the Buccaneers with 15 points while Fox added 12. Both had seven rebounds.
Beloit continues their stretch of quality opponents on Saturday when they host 27th-ranked Monmouth College in Flood Arena. Game time is at 3:00 p.m.
