Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team is represented by three players on the D3baseball.com All-Central Region Team, released by the website today.
Senior shortstop Jordan Jaenicke (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) and senior second baseman Evan Mascitti (Madison, Wis./West) were both named to the First Team while senior left-handed starter Alex Norman (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland) was a Second Team pick.
Jaenicke, a first-time All-MWC selection, was second on the team in hitting with a .333 average and third in RBI’s with 30. He led the squad with 41 runs scored, six home runs and a .457 on-base percentage. He finished his career in the top five in five offensive categories, including as the all-time leader in hit-by-pitches with 34. He led the MWC in fielding assists with 156 and was second in the league in runs scored. He was named the team MVP at the end of the season.
Mascitti, a two-time Team Academic Award winner, had the best season of his career with a team-leading .342 average on a team-high 50 hits with 31 runs scored and 18 RBIs. His hit total was sixth in the Conference while he was third in the league with 121 fielding assists. He was also a part of 24 double plays.
Norman, a left-hander who also earned All-MWC honors in 2011, , led the team with seven wins, a 2.19 ERA and 50 strikeouts. His 2.19 ERA was the fourth-best in a single season while his seven victories tied the season record. Career-wise he finishes first in innings pitched, second in wins with 19 and ERA at 2.89, and third in appearances with 41. He led or shared the MWC lead in ERA, innings pitched and wins and was second in strikeouts and strikeouts looking.
