Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Swimming & Diving team, under head coach Kevin Schober, has achieved Scholar All-American status for the 2013-14 season from the College Swimming Coaches Association of American. The organization announced the honor recently.
The Team Scholar All American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams achieving a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Buccaneer Women, who posted a 3.60 gpa as a team, ranked eighth in NCAA Division III. They were one of three Midwest Conference teams recognized, with Grinnell College and Knox College, and one of three NCAA III teams from Wisconsin to make the list, joining UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater.
The Buccaneer Men, who had a 3.07 mark as a team, were also one of three Midwest Conference teams honored, with Grinnell and Knox, and one of three NCAA III teams from Wisconsin, joining Carthage College and UW-La Crosse.
Beloit opens its 2014-15 season on Saturday, October 25, at the All-Wisconsin Invite in Madison. They open their dual-meet season at home on Saturday, November 1, vs. Knox College in Kresge Natatorium.
