Beloit College sophomore pitcher Ryan Kaveney has been named to the d3baseball.com All-Central Region Third Team. The website announced the honor on Monday.
Kaveney was one of six Midwest Conference players, and the lone pitcher, named to the squad, joining three from Ripon College and one each from Lawrence University and Grinnell College.
Kaveney, from Cary, Illinois (Cary-Grove) earned First Team All-MWC North Division honors after finishing the season 3-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched. He struck out 72 while walking just 13. His 72 strikeouts were the second-most in a season in Beloit history while his ERA was the third-lowest in history. He had three double-digit strikeout games, including 14 against St. Norbert on April 19 at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, which tied the all-time mark. He led the MWC in strikeouts, innings pitched and runs allowed while finishing second in ERA. He was the MWC Pitcher of the Week on April 7.
The Bucs went 15-18 overall, including 6-10 in the MWC for third place in the North Division.
