Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Softball team dropped a pair of tight games on Saturday at the Strong Complex Softball Field as they closed out their home season, falling 2-1 and 6-4 to St. Norbert College.
Seniors Tara Grode and Praises Vega played their final home games for Beloit.
In the opener SNC plated a run in the first on a solo home run before the Bucs tied it up with Emily Dorjath's bases-loaded walk in the third, scoring Tala Cornell, who was the first of three walks in the inning. The Green Knights scored what proved to be the game-winner in the fifth and then held off a Buccaneer rally in the seventh.
The Bucs left the bases loaded in their final at bat after a walk to pinch-hitter Emelie Thern, a single by pinch-hitter Jordyn Ciochon and a walk to pinch-hitter Carrie Campbell.
In the nightcap Beloit jumped on top in the first inning on an RBI single by Megan Salm and a run-scoring fielder's choice by Dorjath. They added two more in the second, both runs scoring on wild pitches, to lead 4-0.
The Green Knights pulled to within 4-3 with three runs in the sixth and then got the doubleheader sweep with three runs in the seventh. Tala Cornell doubled leading off the bottom of the seventh but a double play and a groundout ended it.
Salm had a pair of hits for the Buccaneers.
