Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team were shut down in a decisive third period on the way to a 9-3 loss to John Carroll University at Strong Stadium on Saturday.
JCU scored the only two goals of the opening quarter to grab a 2-0 lead. Matt Kelly cut the deficit in half a little over a minute into the second but the Blue Streaks matched the goal to lead 3-1 at the break.
John Carroll then took control in the third period with four unanswered goals and added a fifth straight to open the fourth and make it 8-1. Kelly got his second goal of the game, assisted by Jacob Pritcher, before JCU scored their final goal with three minutes left. Aidan Whinnery closed out the scoring, assisted by Jack Jenkins, with 33 seconds left for the final score.
Trevor Kenahan made eight saves in net for the Buccaneers, who were outshot 36-20
Beloit plays their next two games on the road, starting Wednesday night at the University of Dubuque. Faceoff is at 7:30 p.m.
