Dubuque, IA -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team was ready for a win to snap a three-game slide. And they got it with a big second half at Loras College on Wednesday night 12-8.
Michelle Dillon opened the scoring for Beloit followed by Libby Storrick, assisted by Dillon, to make it 2-0. The DuHawks cut the deficit in half but Storrick scored her second goal to make it 3-1. Loras tied it up with back-to-back scores before Dillon scored her second of the half with just over 11 minutes left in the half. But LC struck with 43 seconds remaining to tie it at 4-all at the break.
Sara Fithian got the Buccaneers back in the lead to open the second half before Loras scored twice to take a 6-5 lead. Storrick and Dillon got the lead back with five straight goals - the first two by Storrick before three straight from Dillon - before LC stopped the run. Sarah Pipal scored followed by Fithian with a free position score before the DuHawks got their final goal. Fithian and Storrick closed it out for the win.
Storrick finished with five goals and two assists while Dillon also had five goals with an assist. Fithian finished with three scores. Marie Bonine made three saves in net.
The Bucs are back at home on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., hosting Fontbonne University in an MWLC game at Strong Stadium.
