Olivet, MI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team played even or better at Olivet College on Saturday afternoon. But the difference was a five-goal third period by the home team was enough for a 12-6 loss by the Bucs.
The Comets scored the first two goals of the game before Zach Carner found the back of the next, unassisted, to make it 2-1 after one. In the second period OC again scored the first two goals before Aidan Whinnery pulled Beloit back to within 4-3 at the break with back-to-back scores, the first assisted by Liam O'Connor.
In the what turned out to be the deciding third quarter, Olivet opened with the first three goals before Tommy Porkka scored unassisted to stop the run. The Comets then scored twice more to make it a 9-4 game entering the fourth.
Jacob Pritcher got the Buccaneers going in the fourth, unassisted, before Olivet scored twice. Matt Kelly, assisted by Whinnery, finished up Beloit's scoring with three minutes left. OC scored with just under two minutes left for the final score.
Trevor Kenahan made 17 saves in net for the Bucs.
