Waukesha, WI -- Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team players Libby Storrick, a sophomore midfielder from Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Marie Bonine, a freshman goalkeeper from Stillwater, Minnesota, have been named the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for the week ending March 16. The Conference Office announced the honors on Monday.
Storrick, the Offensive Player of the Week, led the Buccaneers to wins over Hilbert and Mount St. Joseph last week. She scored four goals with two assists in a 17-4 win over Hilbert last Monday and added five goals with an assist in a 17-14 MWLC-opening win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. Storrick also netted four goals in a 15-6 setback to Ohio Wesleyan last Wednesday. For the week, Storrick netted 13 goals with three assists, posting a shots on goal shooting percentage of 81.3%.
Bonine, the Defensive Player of the Week, posted a 2-1 record in net for the Buccaneers last week. She tallied six saves with four ground balls in a 17-4 win over Hilbert and added six more saves with three ground balls in a 17-14 league victory over Mount St. Joseph. In a 15-6 loss to Ohio Wesleyan, Bonine racked up a school-record 15 saves with four ground balls. For the week, Bonine posted 27 saves while allowing 8.67 goals per contest.
Beloit (3-1, 1-1 MWLC) is scheduled to face Otterbein, North Central, and Albion this week.
