Lake Buena Vista, FL -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team ran up against a tough opponent on Wednesday in Ohio Wesleyan University but kept battling and more than held their own in the second half of a 15-6 loss at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
The game was the final one on the team's Spring Trip.
OWU came out of the chute on fire, scoring the first four goals of the game before Libby Storrick scored on a free position shot to make it 4-1. The Bishops picked right up after that goal to score the last seven goals of the half to make 11-1 at the break.
But the Bucs regrouped at halftime and came out rejuvenated, out-scoring Ohio Wesleyan 5-4 in the second half. Storrick scored unassisted to open the half and Michelle Dillon hit on a free position goal before OWU scored three straight. Storrick, off Dillon's assist, broke that run with her third goal of the game and added her fourth two minutes later, unassisted. Dillon scored the final goal for Beloit, unassisted, a minute later before the Bishops closed out the scoring with three seconds left.
Marie Bonine did everything she could in net for the Bucs, finishing with 15 saves, eight in the opening half, while facing 41 Ohio Wesleyan shots.
Beloit returns home to open Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play on Saturday when they host Mt. St. Joseph College at Strong Stadium. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
