Lake Buena Vista, FL -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team got their first outdoor action on Monday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex and made it count with a 17-6 win over Hilbert College.
The Buccaneers scored the first six goals of the game, two each by Sara Fithian and Libby Storrick, to take control early. After Hilbert had a run of three of four goals scored Beloit outscored them 5-1 in the last six minutes to lead 11-4 at halftime.
Storrick had four first-half goals while Fithian had three and Michelle Dillon two. Iris Esquivel and Cate Rubin also added tallies in the opening 30 minutes.
The Bucs slowed a bit in the second half, outscoring HC 6-2, as Fithian and Rubin both got two more goals. Sarah Pipal and Hannah Drexler also added scores.
Marie Bonine finished with six saves in net for the win.
Beloit plays Ohio Wesleyan University in their second and final game at the ESPN complex on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. before returning home.
