Ripon, WI – James Lazarcik, a 6’5 senior forward from La Crescent, Minnesota, has been named to the All-Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball First Team for the second straight season. The Conference Office released the 2013-14 team today.
Lazarcik, who was an Honorable Mention All-MWC selection after the 2011-12 season, led the team in scoring (19.5), rebounding (9.2), blocked shots (1.0), field goal percentage (69.7%), free throw percentage (83.2%) and minutes played per game (31.5). He led the Conference in rebounding and field goal percentage and was fourth in scoring and, as of the March 3 reporting date, continued to lead NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, a feat he’s looking to accomplish for the second straight season.
He finished his career with 1,292 points, the seventh-most in Beloit Men’s Basketball history, 752 rebounds, the second-most, and 515 made field goals, the fourth-most. He shot 64.9% from the field (515-794) and 80.1% from the free throw line (261-326).
Named a Second Team Academic All-American last week for the second straight year, Lazarcik had nine double-doubles on the season, giving him 22 in the last two seasons, and hit a career-high of 33 points twice this season – at Illinois College on January 11, and vs. Carroll on February 19. He scored in double figures in 22 of the team’s 23 games and had double figure rebounds in nine games.
The Buccaneers finished the 2013-14 season 9-14 overall, 7-11 in the MWC.
