Buccaneer Women 6th, Men 9th after Day 1 of MWC Indoors; Carlson Sets School and MWC Record

2014 MWC Indoor Track Championships LogoMt. Vernon, IA -- After the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Beloit College Women stand sixth while the Men are in ninth.

Felicia Carlson led the individual performances with a second in the Long Jump.  In the 60m prelims, she set a Beloit and MWC record with a :07.84.  She broke her own school record and eclipsed the 2013 :07.88 MWC record of Liz Captain of St. Norbert.

Emma Koenig earned eighth-place points in the 5000m.  The Bucs got the rest of their points in the relays.

The Women's 1600m Sprint Medley Relay of Carlson, Rasheda Hughes, CJ Cochran and Ellie Waddle and the Women's 4x200m Relay of Hughes, Carlson, Cochran and Waddle both finished third to get a spot on the medal stand.

The Men's 1600m Sprint Medley Relay of Matt Kreiser, Alfred Battle, Peter Siess and George Gray finished fifth and the Men's 4x200m Relay of Kreiser, Battle, DeWight Walker and Siess finished seventh.

The Championships conclude tomorrow.  Action begins at 9:30 a.m.
