Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team knew it would be a tough challenge against Midwest Conference front-runner Cornell College on Saturday in Flood Arena. And it was just that in a 91-66 loss on Senior Day.
Seniors Lauren McNanna, Jenna Larsen and Leah Kruckman played their final game for the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers battled hard early and kept within reach of the Rams. But after pulling to within eight at 20-12 with 8:28 left Cornell went on a game-deciding 14-4 run over the next four minutes. They led by 47-31 at the break.
The second half was much the same as Beloit never got closer than 18 with two minutes left. CC's largest lead was 29 points with 5:58 remaining at 80-51.
The Bucs could never find their shooting touch, hitting on 38% of their shots for the game, while Cornell scored at a 50.8% clip. Beloit did hold the advantage at the free throw stripe as the ninth-ranked team in NCAA Division III in free throw percentage made 22 of 25 on the game.
McNanna led the Bucs with 18 points, including four three-pointers. McNanna finished her career as the eighth-highest scorer in Beloit history with 1,132 points. Her four three-pointers pushed her to 117 in her career, good for fifth all-time.
Nora Polski equaled her career-high with 15 points while Lana Wieseman had 14. Larsen finished with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
