Towson, MD – For the second straight year, James Lazarcik, a 6’5 senior forward for the Beloit College Men’s Basketball team from La Crescent, Minnesota, has been named to the Second Team on the Capital One Academic All-America Team, selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA).
Lazarcik is one of six players to repeat on the Academic All-American Team from 2012-13 among the 15 honorees named to the three teams.
Lazarcik, a Chemistry major, carries a 3.78 GPA. Going into the final two games of the 2013-14 season – Wednesday vs. Carroll and Saturday afternoon vs. Cornell – he is averaging 19.0 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 69.4% from the field, which leads NCAA Division III. Overall he leads the Buccaneers (9-12, 7-9 MWC) in 12 different categories. He leads the Midwest Conference in rebounding and field goal percentage, ranks fourth in scoring and sixth in blocked shots.
To be eligible for Academic All-American consideration a student athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and be nominated by the institution’s Sports Information Director. Only First Team Academic All-District selections are eligible for Academic All-American honors.
